More and more people choose to go cycling outdoors during the holidays. However, some places are too far away, so they have no energy to see the scenery when they reach their destination.

To ride in the wild, you need a top bike rack!

Many people are intimidated by the assembled roof racks. How is it so difficult to install a bike rack?

1. Install the roof rack

Before the bike rack is successfully installed, you need to match the top rack of your car.

These two silver bars are the roof racks.

Because of the different roof structure, the mounted roof frame is also different. Generally, there are 6 categories of separated longitudinal rail, integrated longitudinal rail, reserved fixed point, roof with rain tank, t-guide rail and general roof.

01 separated longitudinal rail

Usually seen in station wagons and suvs, the separated longitudinal rail, shown here, will span the front of the roof to the rear of the roof. Some of these are installed by car manufacturers at the factory or offered as options for car buyers. They are called "split" because they are high in the middle and separate from the top of the car, rather than tightly fitting.

Integrated longitudinal

The integrated longitudinal rail which usually appears in the traveling car is the modern version of the separated longitudinal rail. They usually appear in cars manufactured after 2006. Unlike the separated longitudinal rail, the integrated longitudinal rail is flat with the roof and closely adhered to the roof.

03 reserved fixed points

A roof with a fixed point may appear on any car. The fixing point is usually designed on the roof of the car or inside the frame. There are four fixing points. They are usually hidden by a small plastic lid. The design of the fixed point is very diverse and sometimes the actual installation point is a little hard to find.

The rain gutter, about 1cm along the partially protruding side of the door on both sides of the roof (pictured), usually appears on pre-1990 cars to direct rainwater that does not seep into the car. With the improvement of car - making technology, its existence gradually decreases.

The roof is designed with grooves or rails on both sides, and is typically found in high-priced suvs for easy mounting of fixed roof racks.
